Raw, catchy, impulsive and way too much fun, shoot the messenger is simply a must listen. There are hooks and tempo changes from all angles, keeping the listener on edge and wondering what the hell is coming next. This is an inspired effort; 40 minutes of music that will never grow old. – Inpress Magazine The Bakelite Age has a knack for drawing on the dark claustrophobia which so defines the Melbourne scene, infusing it with eccentricity and black humour then repackaging it as fuzzy noise pop. No easy feat I can tell you. - Adelaide Sunday Mail
BRIEF HISTORY The Bakelite age started in 2003 with Nick Mirabella on drums who was replaced by Ewan McCartney (Kieran joined around the same time turning the band into a four piece) who in turn was replaced by Lochie Cavigan on the skins. After having dealt with the usual gear thefts, broken bones and all the normal associated dramas the band has finally found it's groove with the year old addition of Lochie Cavigan (who fits the band like a fine leather glove) and they've consistently performed tight and lively shows since his addition. They've toured around Australia playing with such bands as SixFtHick, The Pierced Arrows (Dead Moon), The New Christs, Rowland S. Howard, Spencer P. Jones, The Drones and many more. The current line-up is : Link McLennan / Vox + Guitar Kieran Clancy / Lead Guitar + B.Vox Fiona Ely / Bass Guitar + B.Vox Lochie Cavigan / Drums + Percussion

NEW RELEASE The Bakelite Age and Loki Lockwood of Spooky Records have been working for the last 10 months at Atlantis Studio on their second album together, "Shoot the Messenger". Originally planned for release last October it was decided it needed some extra tweaking. Many months later it's ready for release to the great relief and excitement of all involved. The album covers a wide landscape without sounding at all disparate from previous releases. It's the Bakelite Age, but a Bakelite Age who have raised the bar several notches.
